Introducing my NEW Innova Longarm and my 100th post
Blogging has definitely lead me into a different realm in the past year. I've been getting to know quilters from around the world. I find it comforting to know that I have so much in common with so many people. I hope you are enjoying getting to know me too. I would love to meet some of you in person, maybe someday some of us can get together. Quilt Shows and Retreats are good places to meet up.
So this is my 100th post. I know that many post 2 or 3 times that much in a little over a year but I think it's a good number since I only had four posts before June last year. I'm thinking I need to have a GIVEAWAY to celebrate but I'll have more about that at the end of the post.
I know I haven't been posting too much in the last few weeks but I've had my hands full. New babies are so demanding, you know. Want to meet her?

So I think she needs a name. I've wanted a NEW Longarm for many years with all the bells and whistles. She is a dream come true. What do you think I should name her?

Hi, Patricia. I have been giving your new machine the once over (with envy) and I have come to the conclusion that it is not a "her". It is very rugged, stout built, and muscular looking. It could even be called handsome and it will probably be a workhorse. Therefore, I would call him Brutus. My machine is light and delicate so she is my Baby.Thank you so much for the giveaway.

ReplyDeleteShe looks kind of like a Bertha to me. I always picture a Bertha, a farm girl who works hard! as someone who is tall and big, LOL. I don't name my machines, I tried, but then forgot what I named them. I do have 8 machines though! LOL

ReplyDeleteYou mentioned bells and whistles, so how about Bella? I've only named a couple of mine so far, the first Singer 301 (black) is Casey Jones since it reminds me of the 1950s locomotives that were part of my childhood. My new Janome is simply Jan or Janny. Congratulations on the new machine and on putting it together yourself! That's amazing!

ReplyDeleteThe name that jumped into my mind was "Matilda". Why...who knows...it really did just jump into my mind!! lol That aside, when she was behaving you could affectionally call her "Tilly" and when she wasn't then "Matilda" would certainly get her attention! No, I haven't named my sewing machines and I can only hope to have a longarm. Actually, I joke that my home is so small that I'd have to get rid of my husband to have room for a longarm - and darn - I like hubby toooo much. :)

I like the name Hilda. She is sturdy. I name my machines depending on the build date. I have Rita which is a featherweight from the early 40's after Rita Hayworth, Sophia which is a 99K from the early 50's who is after Sophia Loren and her beautiful curves. Um yeah I have 12 more machines and they each have a name. Oh and I sew on them all.
ReplyDeleteJoy! you are going to be so happy when you quilt! I have a HQ16 that was gifted to me. the person who gave me my machine name is Carol. so I named my machine sweet caroline. My mother gave me a FW, so that machine is Gwennie! I haven't name any of my other machines.

ReplyDeleteMy * granddaughter named my car and my sewing machine and I can't remember what it is! I called her and she said the sewing machine's name is Bella. I think you should name it Honey Child. So you can say, Honey Child let's get to work.

ReplyDeleteFirst you need to decide if she/he is a girl or boy. I know an Innova named Monty. mine is named Lola. i couldn't decide male or female. in the 60's there was a song about Lola by the Kinks. if you know the song you'll understand. welcome to the Innova family.

ReplyDeleteI have two Brother machines so I named them after two of my brothers. I think a name like Alma would be perfect it was my Grandmothers name and she was a hard working woman she taught me everything I know about sewing and a lot about life.

I am glad you showed what she looks like as I was wondering when I saw those boxes. I would name her Irene for my grandma. I was trying to think of an I name.

ReplyDeleteHi there Patricia! I just read your post on the Innova Longarm group and HAD to look at your new baby. Absolutely stunning and the photos are great. Your quilting is phenomenal. Love the little heart in the lower right hand corner of that photo. Thank you for sharing these photos. Inspiration to get an Innova of my own and you have the exact setup I would like to purchase. I got quite a chuckle from your red red Robin. :)
