John-Roger
I am getting a late start on the year's opening perspective. I've been pouting a little over my inability to get down the stairs to my studio and freely tackle projects at my whim. I have a machine upstairs now and have got a little piecing done. Time to put an end to the pout and get on with projects as I am able to.
For the last few years I have been selecting a word for the year. As I have been pondering this over the past few weeks words have failed to gain my attention. Today I finally was able to focus on one. I looked back over the things that I did (and did not do) last year and resolved to do much better this year. There are many things that I wish to ACCOMPLISH. So I decided that it shall be my word for the year. Here is what the Thesaurus has to say:
Accomplish: succeed in doing
Synonyms: achieve, arrive, attain, bring about, bring off, carry out, conclude, do, effect, finish, fulfill, gain, get someplace, get there, make it, manage, produce, reach, realize, score, sew up, take care of, win
Notes: Achieve means 'to bring to a successful conclusion' (literally French 'to bring to a head') and Accomplish means 'to perform fully'; the completion of achievement is more comprehensive
Antonyms: abandon, fail, give up, not finish, nullify, relinquish
My day is Friday, January 11
If you haven't followed the blog hop along you can find the whole schedule at Buzzing and Bumbling.
Linda is doing a great job as cheerleader for Madame Samm!
I'll have to share some of my plans for the year another day. I'm out of words for the moment.
Do you have a word picked out for the year?

Think my word for the year will have to be DECIDE. I spend so much time dithering about projects that I invariably end up desperately trying to meet the deadline, when if I had only decided what and how to do it earlier I could have completed them in comparative ease!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great word, I need to accomplish more also! See you on Friday.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilts. my current favourite quote right now is "get 'er done". Thanks for sharing
